A visit to the Opera Haus in Zürich

Last Friday, one of my employee gave me a treat and arrange for 2 tickets for a perfomance in the Zurich Opera House. It is my first time being an audience in the Opera House and to sit in that beautiful hall arrayed with beautiful wall paintings and golden angles on every side.

I did made a tour of the Opera Haus many years ago to see tour around the backstage and the whole backset and rehersal rooms. It was such a fun tour venturing into a world of stories and scripts.
After a hard week at work, I went home and to get ready for the renowned perfomance call AIDA. AIDA is usually perform in open arena like in Verona, Italy on a late summer evening, where the air is cool and the sun just setting on the horizon. It has been my hidden desire to one day travel to Verona and be an audience of such live perfomance of ancient romans stories. Stories of heros and war, love and death and many more intrigues.
God has heard my heart's desire and has granted me a great seat at the Zurich Opera.
Aida is sung so all those opera singers was in top form, they sung their words in Italien and we had a small scroll screen on top of the stage to translate into German. The whole perfomance lasted 3 and half hours. The backdrop was breathtaking and I could only share to you the pictures but it do not do justice to the atmosphere and beauty in this hall.

It was like I walked into a surreal world and was captured and embraced by the stories sung live on stage. It is such a memorable experience.

a taste of autumm and octoberfest

Autumm in Zurich is a time for Oktoberfest (Bier and sausages Festival), fresh apple juice, chestnuts and a real season to indulge into cheese, wine and sausages. Sauerkraut is my favourite dish. I was invited to attend the Oktoberfest an exclusive table at this year. Was kind of amaze of the crowd that was there. Some pictures to share. The crowd there were mainly men and there is a live band which animates them with songs and the more they drank, the more we are to sway with linking up our arms with the neighbour to the songs and music. Some of them stood up on their chairs to sing and dance. For them it is kind of a liberation and merriness. Seeing old and young just enjoying the evening with music, good food and merry company... esp if they have had too much to drink. What really caught my attention was that, there were many securities around to escort those who misbehave, but was overall a peaceful evening.
Well it is worth the experience especially seeing those waitresses carrying to a max of 14 liters of bier with 2 hands !!! That is a real challenge. Worth looking into the german culture. This festival only take place once a year and it is global.

On a break

Thanks for praying and commenting, that was really a real balm to my soul. I took some days off to really destress myself and to think of the next possible steps the Lord wants me to endeavour. It has been so long since I really did what I enjoyed or bought joy to my heart. So on thursday after the meeting with my supervisor again, I told him that I will be taking a few days off. Our conversation was filled with much expectation, lack of appreciation and more judgemental remarks about how I am running the place. I felt a deep resignation deep within me, but I know that I need to be wise to make a new move.

Today is such a beautiful day in Zurich, sun shine and the leaves are array with golden and red tones. Such a day with crisp cool air and the wonderful sun. It is indeed such a blessing to be able to just enjoy the sun and enjoy the prescence of the SON.

I do not really know what is next but I know that my Father has everything under control no matter what.

"He carries me when I am weak and place me on His shoulders, as He my strenght as I open my wide my arms to surrender."

A messy week

This week has been a really difficult week for me, as my business was overwhelmed by more students at the restaurant during this winter semester at the uni. There has been such a tremendous influx of students, the highest we had was on Thursday. It was around 580 students within 2 hours. It was like overcoming hungry soldiers just coming back from war. It was getting out of control. I was so exhausted as was my team to combat this crowd.

so the next day I started to organize some more help from adecco and reorganize my team in task allocation. I started to simplify tasks so in that way, I can move faster to cater to this crowd. Last year we had around 300 people around this time. But now it has nearly doubled. Talking about being stress resistant. Felt really numb with so much work and more coordination. Within half hour, we were nearly sold out so that I needed to organize the cook to cook easy food to serve. Everything was swept empty after the crowd left, they left us so exhausted.

I am glad for such a good attendance and business is picking up more and more each day. But I am also needing more personnel to conquer this kind of crowd. So at that day on Thursday, my supervisor came in after the lunch when the crowd has left. He started to critized me of things and place false accusations on me. I do not really know why, as I told him the problem that I need more workers and that I cannot overcome this crowd with my exsisting. It seems that there is some kind of plan he is shielding from me. Because my main profession is not a cook, he is trying to get in a cook who can do both, cooking and running the place. So that would mean it would be better off for his budget for the restaurant. (I got to know this after the meeting) I had so much anger and sadness, as I know that despite of whatever success this business bring and whatever I do the management will always find fault cos they are hiding another agenda.

So... I need prayers.
